§ 2-20.1. Appointment and removal; residence.

  • Chief administrative officer shall:

    (a)

    Be chosen upon the basis of knowledge and skills in public administration, demonstrated administrative ability, and knowledge of public budgeting, personnel, finance and organization. This requirement may normally be met by a combination of education and experience equal to a master's degree plus five (5) or more years' experience in a highly responsible administrative or supervisory position in a public agency.

    (b)

    Be appointed by, and serve at the pleasure of the board of supervisors, and may be removed from office by majority vote of the board of supervisors upon one hundred eighty (180) days' written notice of such removal. Such notice of removal shall be given at a regular meeting of the board. The board may also relieve the chief administrative officer of his duties during said period.

    (c)

    Maintain residence within the county during his tenure in office, but he need not be a resident of the county at the time of appointment.
