§ 32-8. Addressing procedure.

  • (a)

    All addresses will be assigned or reassigned in accord with the appropriate area and in normal sequence to its respective block.

    (b)

    Prior to the issuance of any address number, the principal access to the property shall bear a name in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

    (c)

    Mobile home parks, condominium complexes, excepting condominium shopping centers, or apartment-type developments will be addressed as follows:

    (1)

    The owner or developer of this type of development will supply the address coordinator with three (3) copies of a small map showing all of the dwelling units and interior streets to allow numbers to be assigned. (Recommended scale of this small map is 1″ = 200′). A copy will then be sent to each emergency agency and post office for their use.

    (2)

    Street names will not be permitted unless specifically authorized by the director of development services; provided, however, the director of development services may approve the naming of streets in a mobile home park at any time after approval of said park upon written application to said board by the owner of the mobile home park. An appeal may be made from the determination of the director of development services by the owner to the board of supervisors.

    (3)

    Where street names are chosen within mobile home parks and condominium complexes, street signs shall be erected by the owners or developers. Addresses will be assigned to the street name which the dwelling unit fronts, by the address coordinator. These numbers shall be displayed in such a manner as to be visible from the street the dwelling unit fronts. The minimum height of numbers to be used shall be three (3) inches and of a contrasting color from the basic background color.

    Where street names are not chosen within mobile home parks, the main entrance will be numbered off the road from which it enters. The interior streets will be assigned a letter for purposes of locating dwelling units. There will be numbers assigned to each dwelling unit with the assigned street letter following. At all intersections in this type of development there shall be a sign showing the dwelling unit number range ahead. (Example: If dwelling unit 22 is on the street assigned the letter "B," the number would be 22-B.) The main entrance of the mobile home park and each dwelling unit will have its number displayed in such a manner as to be visible from the street it fronts. The minimum height of numbers to be used shall be three (3) inches and of a contrasting color from basic background color.

    (5)

    All mobile home parks shall display a lighted map large enough to be legible from a vehicle at all entrances to said park, showing all dwelling units with their respective numbers and street names or letters.
