§ 2-40. Duties of department.

  • The duties to be performed by the department of public works shall be as follows:

    (a)

    Supervise, prepare or obtain designs and plans for roads and bridges;

    (b)

    Perform surveying and mapping;

    (c)

    Inspect county roads and bridges;

    (d)

    Construct and maintain, and contract for the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges and drainage;

    (e)

    Do all things pertaining to county dumps;

    (f)

    Do all things pertaining to county ferries;

    (g)

    Assist in all matters pertaining to water development and control;

    (h)

    Perform the duties of the road department as defined by law;

    (i)

    Administer all technical matters pertaining to land development, including, but not limited to, subdivisions, and improvements relating to commercial, industrial, and multifamily residential development, and drainage facilities related thereto, pursuant to regulations adopted by the county and provisions of state law, excepting those technical matters which are the responsibility of the director of public works under applicable provisions of the County Charter, the Butte County Code, and state law.
